Panic over!(My Kindle is working & I have a Freebie).

Sorry about my MIA, Faith and I are rather proud that we manage to get posts done on a regular basis but sometimes RL SUCKS, or we’re away on holiday lol.  Anyhow, I had planned on being in-world all day snagging and grabbing stuff like a toddler in a sweet shop only to find I was trapped in RL.

But I did have to log in because D.U.S.T has a new freebie out for us and I won’t bore you but reg readers will know of my love of D.U.S.T.

It’s a pose/prop room.  Because this is a Freebie you only get the 1 texture, I have the paid for copy and it doesn’t come with this texture so I was so pleased to have this industrial/steampunk/futuristic backdrop and in fact, I will be using it again pretty soon.

This is a very dark room but either with in-world windlight, lights or one of the many free photo editing sites you can brighten it up etc.

This, of course, is probably not much used to anyone other than those who love to take pictures in-world but there are other GG’s for you to check out and the D.U.S.T shop even though it’s a photographer delight also seems to be bringing in more and more wearable accessories and one of them is a gift as well.

As for my Kindle anyone who owns one will know that sinking feeling when it’s not working but unlike our health and lives a reboot sorted that out.

So I will see ya’s tomorrow and I’m already hunting down some wearables.

D.U.S.T & Lesson 101.(freebies n non freebies).

I know that to a lot of you the use of a pose room/cube/box/backdrop isn’t really of much interest but I like to encourage people to take piccies inworld and at the end I will tell you how you can click away and it not cost you any Lindens at all to save those pictures.

OK, so you will have seen my new pose room from D.U.S.T and most of the rooms cost 219Lds and thats a super bargain for such good looking and for me useful things.

This is it just rezzed and in my sim setting and isn’t it glorious.

Reangled just to show that it is a room and not a flat backdrop.  Anna Margeaux the owner/creator of D.U.S.T must be a photographer in SL because she has managed to create such camera friendly rooms.  You can zoom in and out and up and down and not have as many limits as you can with other props.

Again this isn’t a flat backdrop but a 3D room for you to walk in, I angled my camera from up in the corner so if I was to walk into this room you would be looking down on me.  It’s  very dark as it is but of course you will use face/body lights, windlight or if you use some sort of photo editing software then the fun is endless.

This freebie comes in 2 versions and I have shown you it before.  TBH I didn’t want to go back to the shop because there are other new rooms out and I’ve bought 2 this morning already and I know if I go back even if it is to check out what the freebies are I will buy yet another room LOL.

Now for the lesson and it’s a repeat as well on how to take and keep pictures for FREEEEE.

It’s actually very simple. I use Firestorm but the basics will be the same for most SL Viewers.  On mine when I open “snapshot” I get the Hud up and at the bottom is a tab labelled “selection” and if you open then it gives you a whole list of places you can save your picture to ie straight to Facebook, Twitter, your profile etc and “save to disc” is one of the options and this is FREE, in fact I do believe the only time you pay the 10Lds fee is when you save the picture to your invent.  When you’ve clicked the “save to disc” option your computer window opens and you just save it to where ever you want.  I obviously pop them into a folder in my pictures folder.

All of this means you can click like mad and then pick and chose the best pictures, there are also lots of free editing software available and you can edit your picture and if you want to use it in SL then it will cost you the 10Lds to load it into your invent but that’s nothing and this is a way for you to finally fill all of those picture frames you have with really nice photos.  Or of course, make some Christmas cards or OK let’s face it make some rude piccies for a loved one.

If you want to keep your pictures but also want they like your SL be private you could of course also open a Flickr account. Flickr is free and all you need is a Yahoo email account, as I believe Flickr is owned by Yahoo.  Once you’ve got your email account just open a Flickr account and start to upload your pictures to there.  You are limited to how many you can upload but from memory, it’s a pretty generous amount.

If you don’t want to do any of that still check Flickr out as there are so many Second Life groups, lots of them cater to certain styles, looks ie groups for hair, groups for decor, groups for you to post your stunning SL pictures to and of course groups for FREEBIES!

Be a Star! Rule breaking, SORRY.(Small Freebie&Mention of other Freebies).

OK I’m breaking one of my rules here which is, no fabulous picture with the “Bait” of a promise of a freebie only to find the freebie is not the fabulous hair, dress, shoes but it’s something so small if they didn’t mention it you wouldn’t have noticed it. SO, in this case, the freebies isn’t the fabulous hair, dress or shoes it’s the stars floating around my head.

Let me explain, most of my SLing time is spent TPing here, there and everywhere trying on so many things I’m just a mess, and not even a hot mess, most of the time.  A couple of days ago I got my New Mina hair and it’s been glued to my noggin ever since but it won’t be available until tomorrow(the 1st) I didn’t want to show it to you just yet but I pulled this look together and I just had to take a picture right now and not tomorrow.

So sorry, not sorry, the wearable stars are the gift and they’re super pretty and really frame your face (and hair lol).  They are from my now fav backdrop/prop room supplier in SL and that’s D.U.S.T and I’m actually using one of the many prop rooms I’ve now bought just to make my SL simpler and quicker.  I don’t know if the prices of these prop rooms have changed but they are/were only 219Lds when I bought them so not overpriced but for me, the best thing is these rooms do not cramp your camera angles.  If you want to try yourself then there are other freebies in the D.U.S.T shop inc prop rooms. You may just end up like me, try one of the free prop rooms and then return to buy so many!

As for the hair, I will do a full and proper post as this one comes with the usual Hud etc but you get 4 ways to wear the same hair!

OK Heads up the pose cube and wedding dress are NOT Free! I would hate for you to get your hopes up thinking that they were but that doesn’t mean I don’t have freebies to show you.  Anyhow, check out my new pose room from D.U.S.T.

I will put the link to D.U.S.T at the bottom because they do have a free gift pose room, and yes I’ve grabbed that one as well.  Up till now the only pose room I’ve used when I wanted to take a simple close up of something is a simple cube or used by backdrop but these D.U.S.T rooms allow for such good camera angles and depth of field and are most reasonably priced I’ve bought about 5 of them as well as picking up any Freebies that are put out for us.

First Freebie.

This design is most certainly not a new one, I can remember blogging either this shoe or an almost identical pair from a different shop years ago but this one from Rebel Hope is possibly new but even if it isn’t this design and texture has stood the test of time and so if you have 1 of the 4 mains mesh feet then this maybe something new to you.

This is another Gift from Rebel Hope, a simple dress with metallic chain straps at the back and not only comes with all the mesh sizings a colour hud as well.

The shoes are dress are on boards in front of the “Casual” wear shop and since I remember Rebel Hope is well known for formal and wedding wear I couldn’t help it and snagged a few of the demo wedding dresses and on the desk in that side of the shop is a couple more gifts of what seem to be jewelry, so I didn’t get it lol.

HERE COMES THE (NOT Free)BRIDE!

A girl can dream lol.  Actually not this girl but it is fun to just be a freaking Princess for a day.  This is deffo a demo, the flowers which are mine, cover the demo word up.

So that’s how I wasted 2 hours of my RL in SL and damn it was fun.

Photogenic!(Free NOT Free.)

OK don’t look at the outfit, it’s an old freebie which is stunning but sadly not on offer.  What I’m showing you today is a simple prop box.

Think back a little bit and I showed you anther Free GG from D.U.S.T of a stunning white photo box/room with textured walls and this purple one is the new GG from the same place D.U.S.T but the old GG is also still out so if purple ain’t your colour then the other one might just be.

I was so enamoured with the last GG and this new one that even though there aren’t any demos out for the full priced ones (I think it was 219Lds for the full priced ones) I not only grabbed the new GG but also bought this one.

Get used to this scene as it’s my new backdrop when I am in a rush or mainly for when I want to show you an item close up and in detail

Obviously, not everyone wants or needs some sort of photo prop room but this could just as easily became a little fantasy room in the sky or your own little private changing room or of course give it a go and take some piccies.  Again, taken in my usual Nams optimum skin n prim setting I think you can see that even if you don’t think you have any photographic skills it’s easy to get a lovely shot.

If you are into taking piccies in SL but find that enclosed prop rooms like this often limit the angle of your shot then try the freebies and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
