Working from Home

Where would we be without Mondays? The place to mourn the weekend gone by and where the weekend to come looks such a long, long way off in the distance. However, it’s also the day you know you’re guaranteed to find some good bargains in Second Life thanks to Monday Mania. For us guys, that means taking a trip down to SF Design.

This weeks offering is the super-cool Hamilton vest in black and green. Swaffette’s vests are some of the very few that look right on me and I really like the colour of this one, the black and green calling to mind deep, dark forests. It comes on the jacket and shirt layers in two-lengths for each as well as an underwear layer so you can tuck it in should you wish.

As always this great waistcoat will only set you back L$25 just for today. You can get it at this special price exclusively from the Monday Mania board located just inside SF Design’s casual men’s section.

Oh and by the way, the awesome desk that I sat down to write this little post at is one of the gems from The Mens Dept that I have previously mentioned in these pages. It’s called the Chisolm Desk Set and is from a store called POST. The details are fantastic and it really is a brilliant piece of furniture, perfect for your home office or bedroom or whatever. The desk lamp turns on and off and the desk also gives you the pen to write with (handy when you’re blogging) and coffee should you need one afterward. There are also different sitting animations for you to use. Right now it’s only L$150 at The Mens Dept, you should head down and check it out.

Fashion for Life

Fashion for Life is a tremendous event in Second Life which supports the American Cancer Society raising a great amount of money for donation. It’s currently running until the 20th of this month and I think we can all agree that this is a very worthwhile cause as I’m sure most of us have either directly or indirectly been affected by this disease. We all know how important research into finding a cure is. There are so many great designers on show with some lovely FFL exclusive items so when you head down to the Fashion for Life sims and buy something from one of the Fashion for Life vendors, be happy in the knowledge that not only are you getting some high quality merchandise, your money is doing good. There are also gacha machines and a hunt, giving you even more excuse to look around.

Now onto some of the gear you’ll find when you’re wandering. First up, I have this super skin from Akeruka. It’s called Damien mk1 (yes there is a mk2 as well). You’ve all seen Akeruka skins on this blog before so you know how good they are and if you haven’t, well just take a look at the above picture. Akeruka never stints on quality, bringing superb details to their skins. Damien has a great masculine look to him with tremendously sculpted muscles around the torso, even the belly button is done well. This version of Damien comes with some funky looking eyeliner that adds another dimension to the skin. Also included are tattoo layers for a light eyeliner and hairbase as well as a bald base. Everything is covered. This skin will cost you L$1000 and is definitely worth the price.

::Schoen:: is a new store to me but they have some wicked looking items down at Fashion for Life. The ‘Black Down Vest’ you see above is one of their FFL Hunt items that can be yours for L$50. It is really very well done with just the right amount of puffiness to it, looks great worn by itself as well as over the top of something like I’ve done here. I love the black leopard print designs around the bottom and front of the vest. There is also a hooded version included that looks just as good. This is an item that you guys should definitely be on the lookout for.

Last but not least, I have one of the Fashion for Life exclusive outfits from SF Design. Those of you who’ve seen the blog recently will recognize the shirt and mesh pants shown here but now they have been beautifully recoloured and put together for FFL along with an awesome pair of boots. As I mentioned, the pants in this ensemble are mesh so you’ll need a mesh enabled viewer to see them and they are definitely worth the new viewer, gorgeously detailed and fitting. There are 2 different sizes of the mesh included so you’ll surely find one to suit your size. The dark blue colour looks brilliant and goes so well with the boots and shirt. Speaking of the shirt, it’s a light blue version of the Flower Power shirt and I think I might even like this even better than the pink one, especially taken with the ensemble as a whole, it just all looks so good. As I mentioned in a previous post, you get two sleeve lengths for this type of shirt, the three-quarter length (which is my personal fave) and the full-length, plus they come on a variety of layers. The creases and shading are done ever so nicely and the sculpted cuffs and collar fit perfectly.

Now onto the Tweedy Rolltop boots. I love these shoes, they look too awesome. The colour is very cool (blue suede shoes without the suede baby) and they are dead easy to fit with the alpha layer (if you can wear multiple alphas, something I’ve only recently been able to do myself). The detailing on them is gorgeous, especially the tweed rolltop, seriously, that is my favourite part of these boots and that is saying something.

This ensemble will cost you only L$400 which is an amazing price for such a sweet set of clothing. More than worth it.

So there you have it, some of the amazing items on show at Fashion for Life. As you can see, the quality of the items is simply stunning and this is only a small sample of the gear you’ll find down there. Remember, it is all for a great cause so bring your money, explore the many gorgeous sims and help out!

Nice and Furry

Now is the time of the year when you can take advantage of some huge bargains and here in Second Life it is no different.

A perfect example of this is Bubblez new release, this gorgeous fur vest, which is being sold for a limited time only for the crazy price of L$12! The fur looks so lovely and sways nicely when you move. There are two separate attachments for this, the bottom and the top of the furry vest, including the high collar and they fit with no trouble whatsoever.

For L$12 there’s not much else I need to say. This is a great-looking piece of clothing and the price is amazing. The promotion only lasts until the 3rd of January so you should head on down and grab it while you can. There’s also a version for you ladies as well.

30k for Gabriel

30,000 is a rather large number wouldn’t you say? I would too and yesterday I found out that one of my favourite stores, Gabriel, has now eclipsed that number in group member!

To celebrate this, they are giving away this sculpted Down Vest as a group gift. It comes in a coolly crisp white with awesome fur trim around the hood and on the chest. The details like the fur, the buttons on the pockets and the little tags at the edge of the hood all look fabulous as does the vest itself. It can be resized via script but it fit me right out of the box which is a rare thing indeed for a sculpted vest.

While I was there picking the vest up, I also noticed this brilliant pair of leather boots was being given away as a group gift before (I must have missed the notice about these). Another example of great work from Gabriel, the leather texture on these boots look amazing and I’m loving the straps and silver buckles on the sides. Both of these gifts also come in a female version too, ladies.

If you’re not already a member of this group, you should be as there are some other wonderful group gifts besides these to be picked up which I have blogged before and I noticed that there is still a sale going on that will let you pick up some major bargains. Congrats Gabriel!

Fields of Elysium

I’ve taken a break from the hunting to head on down to SF Design to pick up November’s free gift which is a pack of two terrific waistcoats.

I usually struggle wearing waistcoats with textures stretching around the shoulders but not with these. That fact, coupled with the gorgeous shiny material and design make these vests a super gift. The Elysium Waistcoats come in two stunning colours: the blue which I’m wearing here and a wicked shade of pink as well. They come on multiple layers giving them a good deal of versatility and really just look fantastic.

This is definitely a gift you should run on down and pick up while you can as waistcoats are always handy to have, especially when they’re free and as cool as these.

Renegade

Ah, Lapointe and Bastchild. I have fond memories of this store. You see, long ago, this was where I purchased my first ‘proper’ pair of shoes and my very first suit. I also spent quite a bit of time in their freebie area as well.

Anyway, when I received a giftcard from there, I was ashamed to realise that I hadn’t been down there in a good, long while. When I got there and saw all the things I had been missing out on, I was a little like a kid in a candystore trying to figure out what to get. So much cool gear, so little time so I grabbed myself a couple of things and couldn’t resist showing you. Above is the ‘Renegade’ jacket which is sensational. I always love a good denim jacket. It comes in either blue or black and the details on it are fantastic. Included are sculpted cuffs, collar and bottom to the jacket and are resizeable via script (though to tell the truth, I didn’t need to edit it one little bit). There is also a separate hood add-on you can purchase for this jacket which looked pretty cool.

I also picked up the ‘Aviator Leather Vest’ while I was down there and while I’m generally not a fan of prim vests/jackets, this one looked too good to pass up and I wasn’t disappointed. The details on it, from the wool on the collar, the graphic on the back, to the buckles hanging off the shoulders, are all fantastic. It also has a very cool resizer script that lets you manipulate the size of the vest along the axes which means you can resize the height, width or depth of it a lot easier, which is just how I like it.

There is a lot more to be seen down at Lapointe and Bastchild: shoes, more jackets, jeans, belts, you name it and all at very reasonable prices (and yes the freebie area is still there too!). I won’t be waiting too long to be taking another trip down there, that’s for sure, and you shouldn’t wait long either.

Make Him Over Monday

It’s double trouble at SF Design this Monday. Not only can you pick yourself up the usual fantastic Monday Mania item (more about that further down) but they are also participating in the Make Him Over hunt and have an absolutely gorgeous gift to grab.

It’s called the ‘After Hours’ vest and shirt. Take a look at the colours, soft lavender shirt and purple vest, you just know I’m going to love it and I do! The vest has got some great details and the pattern is lovely. With the multiple layers you can choose to wear the shirt and vest separately with it all tucked in or you can wear the untucked jacket layer like I am. With this gift you get the sculpted cuffs and collar which come in two versions: one with a resizer script and one without. Make sure to take a good look at the cuffs when you get this as the cufflinks are seriously awesome. You also get the fab loose, flexi tie as part of the gift and has a number of cool colours to choose from in its menu.

To find this hunt item, you have to take a trip over to the SF Design mainland store which you can find here: SF Design Lotus

Now onto this weeks Monday Mania which is this sweet bandana. This is something I definitely didn’t have in my inventory before and it’s always good to get something you don’t already have. It is really well made, wrapping perfectly around and draping over your chest nicely. It’s also colour changeable so you can tailor it to whatever you’re wearing and the pattern looks great. This is definitely worth picking up as it makes a handy, wicked-looking accessory and it’s only L$25 for today, you have to love that.

To get this bandana at the special price you have to grab it from the Monday Mania board which is located just inside the SF Design men’s casual section, located here: SF Design
