Hello Sailor – (renting a home in Second Life)

Sailors Cove rental homes

I’ve been dying to use that as a blog post title ! Its been a couple of months since I last looked around at rental homes – and this time I have found a real gem . It all begun when I was trying to sort out my inventory, I came across some items made by Ken Rosenthal – wow blast from the past! I haven’t spoken to Ken for years, so like the true stalker I can be, I looked him up and noticed he had rental homes. Now, if you know Ken, you’d know he is one classy guy. Intrigued to see what he had built I zoomed over – et voila – ended up renting one of his gorgeous homes in “Sailors Cove”. As I suspected the place was beautiful, small and welcoming. The real beauty is that you have access to the open sea from your home, rez your craft and you’re off ! The home is a light and bright space, open plan living downstairs and furnished mainly with pieces from one of my favourite stores “Bazar”. One double bedroom upstairs and a gallery landing – perfect for placing an easel …or something.

Sailors Cove rental home $600L per week - furnished (or not) plus prims!

Soooo renting details:  $600L per week. The units are furnished and have an additional 150 prim limit(land impact) for you to add. You can request the unit to be unfurnished for a total of 270 prim limit (land impact). when you get your note-card with embedded group joiner just click and wear – et voila !

I haven’t had the urge to rez any more furniture to be honest – it’s so tastefully done already why change?. However the generous prim allowance means you can fool around with your collection of boats, yachts etc outside on your deck. There are just eight of this sweet homes to rent and three are taken already – pop over and check it out. The landmark given will take you to the deck of my place – feel free to mooch ! Thanks for the warm welcome Ken ❤

Greenlily

Scarlet Creative- Greenlily cottage collabor88 NEW!

If you’ve been pondering getting a new home for the new season – look no further. Scarlet Creative have Greenlily cottage out at collabor88 and its pretty fantastical! For just $188L it’s all yours, well worth it. Take a peek at the event and you’ll see why I fell in love with this authentic little home. Actually its spacious although it’s deceptively small looking for outside. Meandering corridors with surprises built-in – feature galore.

Scarlet Creative Greenlily Cottage

As is now usual with Charlotte’s builds there are lots of fabulous textures used. This is the first for a longggg time that I’ve seen her utilise wallpaper, its faded, its shabby and it really adds a warmth to the space. At the rear fo the build is a beautiful and useful glazed conservatory area. I can totally see myself living in this grand old cottage. Thanks Charlotte ❤

At Last !

Scarlet Creative collabor88 - NEW!

I’ve been waiting for Scarlet Creative to launch a new skyhome for simply ages, tadah – here it is! This is the “Rakkaus” sky home, and it’s totally awesome. All the features I so love are right there, the peeling plaster effect, the warm wood, all those creative touches that really make a space special and “homey” and über stylish. At just 67Li and costing only $188L its a show stealer. You can grab this at the latest round of Collabor88, there is a demo I believe also.

If you touch the main window in the lounge area you get a menu for the views from all the windows. Brilliant as it means this sky home isn’t just for Winter – it’s an all year round pad. Quite a few options to keep you happy and it also means you get rid of that skyhome feel of being locked away inside – you have views !

Scarlet Creative NEW!

From the main living area there are a few steps up to a railed gallery, some of the poles have fairy lights wound around them which is just so sweet. Lots and lots of windows , so the whole build seems airy and fresh.

Just a handful of the window view options here for you to see, the décor panel is by Circa btw. (more info about that later)

Scarlet Creative details

And of course, a little teaser of some of the little details that always thrill me – which is why you really need to get your little paws on this and make it your home. I’m considering placing one above my land home actually, as a sort of “get away”, perhaps after Christmas ! Thanks Charlotte ❤

High or low ?

Scarlet Creative NEW!!

You might now be actually able to get IN to collabor88 – gawd it took me days ! Such a popular event and no wonder with so many brilliant designers with wares for sale. One of my favourites is Scarlet Creative, and I’m lucky enough to be able to share with you the release for this round. This is “Treegazer”, and there are two versions, one with the supports made out of tree’s and one that fits snug to the ground. It’s so classy, please make sure you pop up to the demo area and check this build out – I know you’ll be there for ages as its got SO much to marvel at ! A really grand entrance and porch area, leads into the main build, everywhere you look there are tiny little details to spot, the woods used, the window frames and the astonishing cornices. It’s pretty fabulous and you’d be missing something unique and special if you didn’t at least LOOK !

I did get a little giddy when I first walked into this home, my eyeballs were spinning from side to side, up and down – looking at it all – there is a lot to see its a BIG space.

Grand Isolation – renting a home in Second Life

CLM rental home - $99L per week rent furnished or unfurnished

Time for another look at the rental market, I always love to do these posts – hope you enjoy them and find them useful. I came across CLM rentals and took a peek at what they had to offer. Quite a range of rental homes and land, starting from a little as $50L per week. Most of the “budget” range seemed to be furnished, not bad but Id prefer to use my own stuff really. You can’t ask for furniture removals on the budget homes, but you can on the others (over $100L per week range). I liked the look of this Lighthouse, something a little different no? It cost me $99L for a week, furnished and with 50 prims to use. As usual with me, I asked for everything to be removed so I could furnish myself. After everything was taken I had the grand total of 65 prims yay! That’s more than enough to create a cozy and stylish place. There are four floors to this dwelling, I used the ground as a lounge/ kitchen, 2nd floor as a dining room, 3rd floor bedroom and left the 4th floor empty as it was nice to have a walk around area outside. I have ONE prim left for emergencies! Group auto return is set to on in the properties, so make sure you’re wearing your group tag BEFORE placing stuff out – or it gets delivered back to you pretty pronto. (The group invite arrives as soon as you’ve paid the rent)

CLM rental home - 99L per week

I used almost exclusively furniture from Bazar, low prim and brilliantly made. The fire in my bedroom is by what next – gotta have a snuggly fire near my bed. Once I was finished decorating (I LOVE decorating) I decided to survey the new area. One of the reasons I chose the lighthouse, is that I can avoid looking at the land behind me, it isn’t a pretty view , but…its not hard to ignore it. Once I’m inside my lighthouse I tend to look out of the windows at the sea – that suits me just fine. I did take a look at a few other homes being offered and found some dead cute ocean front sort of tiki houses. Well appointed and nicely set out and ever so inexpensive ! Definitely do check the other homes, I’m pretty sure you will find something to your taste.

Scarlet Creaive gacha prizes @ The Arcade

It’s almost time to gird your loins and do battle to get into a new round of The Arcade. If you can get in (I always wait at least a week to try) head straight for Scarlet Creative’s gacha machine, you’ll find the most gorgeous prizes of the whole event, and for just 50L a pop ! There are six items in the machine and one rare – which is the barn. Hmm I say barn but its a lot more posh than I’d imagine a barn to be. Low Land impact means you can go crazzzzylegs mad with decorating your new space – always a good thing.

Scarlet Creative couch - The Arcade Gacha - Lok's rug texture change 10L @ Heatwave

One of the common wins is this darling couch, crammed full with sweet poses to keep you dillydallying around. I picked up the rug from The Wash in the heatwave event – only 10L from Lok’s , its texture change too – a real must have.

Scarlet Creative @ The Arcade rare

As usual with Charlotte’s builds, there are nooks and crannies to discover and delight you. I was hooked on the stairs – lovely curve with windows alongside – the wood textures are rustic and charming, they give a real sense of warmth throughout. So, basically you have two levels in this space – I noted upstairs there are two alcoves which the stove and kitchen cupboard fit perfectly into. (see photo 1)

Scarlet Creative @ The Arcade

Another common win is the artisits desk – comes complete with potted plant, book & beaker – the doggy is my own – he keeps on appearing in my photos !  Dont forget The Arcade does not open until the 1st June  – Thanks Charlotte ❤

Shiny Shabby

Scarlet Creative Chapel NEW

I’ve always always alwaysss wanted to buy an old church and renovate it in real life, so when I saw Scarlet Creative’s new build for Shiny Shabby I was pretty ecstatic.

Scarlet Creative Chapel NEW!!

Its called the “Neva Chapel” ,  includes 2 sizes, 107LI for small and 127LI for large. (21x22x17 footprint). I used the smaller scale for my photos and it seemed to be perfect and to scale for me.

Soooo from the outside its pretty churchified, one of those old type chapels, made of wood that I used to see in old Wild West movies. If you look up to the roof you can see the first clue its been converted, a lovely window gantry that would flood the interior with natural light.

Scarlet Creative NEW

Move inside and check out the stunning work on the windows, peeling paint on the frames and the odd loose wooden board on the walls all add to the atmosphere and charm. There is a narrow ladder leading up to what Id use as the bedroom – its been railed off with metal poles and guide poles – nice touch. All this for just $249L – deal !

I’ve just been over to Shiny Shabby (7.10am UK time) and its jam-packed and super hard to move around, might be worth leaving it a couple of days before you visit. I doggedly stood my ground to get a few items .
