People use SL for lots of reasons, it’s fun to play dressing up, you can interact with people all over the world, create your dream home and of course nookie and shopping BUT SL is a bit like a large city in that so much seems to be going on and everyone else seems to be having so much fun and you just feel like a tiny little ant in a big World and you’re missing out.
Of course, there are some amazing Role Play sims and communities but I for one have never been able to get into that mindset to be a good player plus I wouldn’t really have the time needed for good RP.
Anyhow the whole point of this random post is I think I have found a home for the lost n lonely, although you don’t actually have to rent a home. Quite a few weeks ago I stumbled upon the Orchard Heights Sims and I’ve been in the group ever since.
Orchard Heights consists of 14 sims landscaped and decored to perfection. These are rental sims but from what I’ve seen each house is stunning and each sim has a sorta theme to it ie beach, woodlands. I would struggle to chose where to rent if I was looking for a home BUT from being in the group I can see that it’s more than just home rentals it is, in fact, a whole community and so many events are put on, every day there is a breakfast get together, films are played in SL for you to watch in RL and on and on a really lovely and genuine attempt to give people a place to be and something to do.
It goes without saying you do not have to be a renter and you only need to be in the group to be informed of these regular events and although these are RP sims I think in most cases the RP actually consists of you just living there and being a good resident.
Now for the cop-out, I’ve been popping in and out of these sims just trying to get pictures to show you but I have lag issues with the sims which is actually a real bummer as I would love to use them for backdrops and in fact, photography is encouraged but I just lag. So I’m going to put the link to the Rental office, trust me even that is a gorgeous build in a lovely setting, and the link to 2 of the Orchard Heights Flickr accounts so you can see for yourself what I’m talking about. You can use the LM’s given to you in the rental shop to TP and check out all the different sims for yourself and there is lots of hangout places just for those who don’t even want to be in a group but would just like to loiter in a lovely setting.
Faith has just posted that the info note you can get does suggest you lower your “Drawer to 64” then this will make it so much better and you’re damned right I’m going to do that. Sometimes it’s payback in that you pack sims with stunning landscapes, builds, decor etc it can be laggy to some but adjusting your settings won’t detract from your enjoyment and in fact increase it. Thanks Faith.
PS Just because I’m a lag B*itch doesn’t mean you will be.
PPS That isn’t a picture of one of the sims it’s just a random picture I took this morning.
